The Summer Ale Trail is coming to the North Tyneside coast – here’s everything you need to know

If your idea of a perfect summer’s day involves a cold pint, the sound of seagulls and being by the coast, then we’ve got some good news…

YOUR NEW FAVOURITE REASON TO EXPLORE THE COAST

A new Summer Ale Trail is launching across the North Tyneside coast throughout July 2026, and it’s shaping up to be one of the best things to do in the North East this summer.

Organised by the Tyneside and Northumberland branch of CAMRA, the trail takes in 16 venues across Monkseaton, Whitley Bay, Cullercoats, Tynemouth and North Shields – covering everything from traditional pubs and social clubs to brewery taprooms, bottle shops and award-winning micropubs.

Whether you’re a dedicated real ale devotee or just looking for an excuse to spend a few warm evenings by the coast, this one’s for you.

WHO’S INVOLVED?

That’s a proper mix of spots – from the multi-award-winning Dog and Rabbit in Whitley Bay to the Platform 2 Craft Ale Bar at Tynemouth Metro Station, and the Flash House Brewery Tap Room right on the North Shields Fish Quay. While real ale is at the heart of the trail, several venues serving high-quality craft keg have been included too, so there’s something for every palate.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Pick up a trail map from any participating venue during July, then collect a sticker each time you visit a new pub on the list.

Bag 10 different stickers, take a picture of your completed map and email it to [email protected] to be entered into a prize draw to win a £25 bar tab at your favourite participating venue.

The trail is designed to be enjoyed across multiple visits – which means spreading your exploration across different corners of the coastline, discovering venues you might never have wandered into before.

Full details, opening times and updates can be found via the Tyneside & Northumberland CAMRA website and their socials.

The Summer Ale Trail runs throughout July 2026. Consider this your sign to get out, sip on a pint and explore new pubs.
