Your new running crew: 10 North East run clubs to have on your radar
Run clubs have been all the rage lately. And for good reason, this is a wellness craze that we can actually get behind.
The concept is simple, you meet, you run, then you unwind afterwards with a pint or maybe a coffee. Unlike a gym or fitness studio that can sometimes feel isolating or anti-social – run clubs offer a sense of community.
Just as the name suggests – you’re part of a club. Just by showing up, it’s so easy to find yourself connecting with like-minded people and building new friendships, even at your first run.
“Hi, it’s my first run club” is all you need to say and suddenly you’ve met a group of new people who are just as curious, health conscious and open as you are!
Same place, same time, week after week, you don’t need to book in advance and you don’t need to get a personal best, just by being there, you’re staying consistent with a healthy habit and improving your wellbeing. And even better? It’s free.
Maybe you’ve only ever run after a bus and right now, 5k sounds like a death wish or maybe you’re training for the Great North Run and need to get your kilometres in each week, it doesn’t matter. You can always run as fast or as slow as you want and chances are you’ll find someone else who’s matching your pace.
With new ones popping up all over the North East, here’s a round-up up of all the run clubs we’ve got our eye on.
