Zen, Durham

Zen Durham – Thai & Asian dining in Durham

Tucked into a quiet lane near Durham Cathedral, Zen brings Thai and wider Asian cuisine to the city with a genuinely long-standing team, several members with 14 years at the restaurant, led by head chef Mr P’Art. It positions itself as a proper fine dining experience, good for lunchtime tranquillity or an evening out.

The draw: a well-regarded seasonal menu, a Zen2Go takeaway option for enjoying the food at home, and gift vouchers that can also be used across sister restaurants Rabbit Hole and Whitechurch.

Hours:

Daily 11am–9:30pm

Vibe check: polished and a little theatrical (think dark, moody branding and “welcome to Zen” flourishes), with house rules allowing 90 minutes for tables of 2 to 3 and up to 2 hours for tables of 4 to 6, so it’s worth booking ahead.
