COOK HOUSE, Ouseburn

Cook House – Casual dining restaurant in Ouseburn, Newcastle

Cook House began life as a recipe blog and supper club, the founder, Anna Hedworth’s, self-taught escape route from a career in architecture, before growing through pop-up dinners and time spent at London restaurants Quo Vadis and Rochelle Canteen. It was originally housed in converted shipping containers overlooking the Ouseburn river, and remains rooted in that same converted, industrial feel.

The draw: it’s casual dining with a real focus on food and hospitality rather than formality, seasonal cooking that’s earned it a strong reputation and press coverage over the years.

Hours:

Wednesday to Sunday.

Vibe check: relaxed, convivial and a bit industrial chic, a proper Ouseburn destination for anyone wanting food that’s the main event without stuffiness.
