The Boat Club – Cocktail bar and steakhouse in Durham
The Boat Club occupies a 500 year old building on the bank of the River Wear, with panoramic views of the medieval Elvet Bridge and Durham’s city centre. It’s a two concept venue, with the Boat Club cocktail bar and riverside heated beer garden on the ground floor, plus the newer addition of Tomahawk Steakhouse upstairs, known for its Himalayan dry aged steaks.
The draw: the riverside setting is genuinely special, especially from the heated beer garden, and the happy hour deals are strong: two for one cocktails all day Sunday to Friday, and again on Saturdays between 8pm and 1am, plus two Peroni pints for £9.
Hours:
Monday to Thursday 12am to 1am
Friday to Sunday 10am to 1am.
Vibe check: a picturesque destination that works equally well for daytime drinks with a view or a livelier night out upstairs at the steakhouse, best paired with a wander along the riverbank.
