Fuochi, Newcastle

Fuochi Pizza Experience, proper Neapolitan pizza on Westgate Road

Tucked away on Westgate Road, Fuochi Pizza Experience is one of Newcastle’s more under-the-radar pizza spots, and that’s part of the charm. Run by Italians who clearly care about doing things the traditional way, it’s built around wood-fired ovens, slow-fermented dough and pizza meant to be shared the way it would be in Naples. There’s no showing off, just good ingredients handled properly.

The draw: The Napoli and the Boscaiolo are the pizzas worth ordering first, and the pasta holds its own if you fancy mixing it up. Walk-ins are welcome downstairs if you haven’t booked, and collection orders get 10% off with the code FUOCHI10.

Address: 211 Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 6AD

Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 4pm to 10pm (last serving). Friday and Saturday, 12pm to 10pm (last serving).

Vibe check: Low on frills, big on flavour, a proper neighbourhood spot rather than a see-and-be-seen one. Good for a relaxed sit-down meal, and Fuochi also delivers via Deliveroo if you’d rather stay in.
