Kiln, Ouseburn

Kiln – Restaurant, coffee shop and pottery studio in Ouseburn, Newcastle

Kiln started life as a pottery studio in a derelict Ouseburn garage before growing into a restaurant built around craft, music and hospitality. It describes itself as a British larder with Middle Eastern spices, and the ethos runs deep: the ceramics on the tables, the lamps, and even the screen printed art are all made in house by the team behind it.

The draw: everything is handmade, right down to the crockery you eat off, and the food moves through coffee, brunch and flame cooked dinner service across the day. It’s proudly dog and child friendly, with plenty of space kept for walk-ins rather than booking only.

Hours:

Open daily.

Breakfast service 10am to 12pm

Lunch service 12pm to 4pm

Evening service 4pm to 9.30pm.

Vibe check: warm, creative and a bit chaotic in the best way, they even say they love “the balagan.” Good for everything from a quick coffee to a long, lingering dinner.
