Colman’s Seafood Temple, South Shields

Colmans Seafood Temple – Seafood restaurant on South Shields seafront

Colmans has been serving fish and chips and seafood since 1926, growing from a small hut on South Shields foreshore in 1905 into a four generation family business. The Seafood Temple itself is a contemporary restaurant inspired by seaside art deco architecture, with panoramic windows looking straight out over the coastline and the blue flag beach.

The draw: genuinely excellent, sustainably sourced fish and chips alongside a wider seafood menu covering lemon sole and haddock, served with unbeatable sea views and a proper bar for cocktails and beers. Order for collection is also available online.

Hours:

Monday to Thursday 12pm to 7.30pm,

Friday and Saturday 12pm to 8.30pm

Sunday 12pm to 5pm.

Vibe check: a proper coastal destination restaurant rather than just a chip shop, worth booking ahead for a table with a sea view, especially around peak weekend times.
