Tucked on the corner of Grey Street and Market Street, right beside the Theatre Royal, The Green Room is Newcastle’s newest spot for pre-show cocktails, interval drinks or a classy glass of wine before heading into the stalls. Captivating artwork inspired by the Theatre’s own dramatic history unfurls across the space, making it as much a destination in its own right as a theatre night add on.
The draw: A menu spanning carefully chosen wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, alongside a proper food offering that includes an all day menu, a bar menu, a pre theatre set menu, Sunday lunch and a children’s menu. The location can’t be beaten for theatre-goers, but it’s just as suited to anyone after a stylish city centre pit stop.

Hours: Monday closed (unless there’s a show on, in which case food runs 12pm to 7pm). Tuesday to Thursday, the bar runs 11am to 10pm with food served 12pm to 7pm. Friday and Saturday, the bar stays open 11am to 11pm with food again 12pm to 7pm. Sunday, the bar runs 11am to 5pm with food 12pm to 5pm.
