If you love a night at the theatre packed with edge-of-your-seat drama, unforgettable romance and iconic songs, then make sure The Bodyguard is at the top of your must-see list this summer.

The internationally acclaimed, award-winning musical returns to Theatre Royal Newcastle from Monday 27th July to Saturday 1st August, bringing with it a spectacular production that audiences can’t get enough of.

Based on the beloved blockbuster film, The Bodyguard follows former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect global music superstar Rachel Marron from a mysterious stalker. Both strong-willed and fiercely independent, the pair clash from the moment they meet. But as the danger intensifies, an unexpected romance begins to blossom, leading to a thrilling story that’s equal parts suspense, emotion and passion.

This dazzling production stars international leading actor Sidonie Smith as Rachel Marron, alongside Olivier Award nominee Adam Garcia as Frank Farmer and Matt Milburn as Sy Spector. Together, the talented cast delivers powerhouse performances that perfectly capture the intensity, glamour and heart of this much-loved musical.

Of course, no production of The Bodyguard would be complete without its incredible soundtrack. Audiences can expect an evening filled with some of the biggest hits ever recorded, including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, Saving All My Love, Run to You, I Have Nothing, Greatest Love of All, Million Dollar Bill, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and the legendary I Will Always Love You. Whether you’re a lifelong Whitney Houston fan or simply love a great musical, you’ll find yourself singing along long after the final curtain falls.

With breathtaking choreography, stunning staging and plenty of dramatic twists, it’s easy to see why critics continue to rave about the show.

Why not make a full evening of it with a visit to The Green Room at Theatre Royal Newcastle before the performance? Located within the theatre, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed pre-theatre meal or drinks without worrying about rushing across the city before curtain up. Expect seasonal dishes, a welcoming atmosphere and the convenience of being just moments from your seat, helping you start your theatre experience in style.

Performances begin at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. The production runs for approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes, including an interval, and is recommended for ages 10+ due to haze effects, strobes and flashing lights. A BSL interpreted and captioned performance will also take place on Thursday 30th July at 7.30pm.

With demand expected to be high, book early to secure the best seats and experience one of the most iconic musicals of all time at Theatre Royal Newcastle.
