The UK’s first dog bus is coming to County Durham and it’s everything

If you’ve ever looked at your dog and thought, they deserve a proper day out, then County Durham is about to deliver. Billy’s Bus, the viral dog experience that has captured the hearts of the entire nation, is heading to the North East, and honestly, we couldn’t be more excited.

Buckle up, because this one’s a good one.

BILLY'S BUS

SO WHAT ACTUALLY IS BILLY’S BUS?

Picture this: your dog, in their own seat, safely harnessed, surrounded by fellow four-legged passengers, taking in the sights and smells of the great outdoors from the window of a specially designed bus. No walks. No doggy daycare. Just a full-on, tail-wagging day out, unlike anything your dog has ever experienced before.

Billy’s Bus became an overnight internet sensation, racking up millions of views and a devoted following of dog lovers across the UK. It even caught the attention of Disney, landed on Good Morning Britain and made headlines on ITN News. Safe to say, the hype is very much real.

And now it’s coming here.

WHY COUNTY DURHAM?

Billy’s Bus hasn’t just rocked up anywhere. It has chosen County Durham deliberately, partnering with Bridge Creative, an award-winning social enterprise rooted in Bishop Auckland that supports autistic adults and adults with learning disabilities into meaningful, paid employment.

This partnership is genuinely brilliant. Not only does it bring one of the UK’s most joyful experiences to the North East, but it also creates real job opportunities for people who have long dreamed of working with animals.

“So many of the people we work with want to work with animals, but the opportunity for jobs in that area is so rare – it’s one of those aspirations we hear time and time again that we’ve never really been able to do anything about.

Billy’s Bus changes that. It gives people the chance to gain real, paid employment doing something they actually love that’s genuinely exciting and unlike anything else we’ve been able to offer before, whilst creating a sustainable trading arm under Bridge Creative” – Ben Tinkler, Bridge Creative.

Billy’s Bus changes that. Every booking made directly supports Bridge Creative’s mission to build confidence, independence and meaningful lives for the people they work with. So yes, you’re treating your dog to the best day of their life and doing something genuinely good at the same time. What’s not to love?

WHAT TO EXPECT ON BOARD

Your dog gets their own seat. Let that sink in.

Fully harnessed, warm, cosy and surrounded by furry friends, your pup will be living their absolute best life while you watch on with the kind of pride only a dog parent truly understands. Routes will operate across County Durham, with full details dropping in June 2026.

“Our little yellow bus has captured the hearts of millions and we are unbelievably proud to be partnering with Bridge Creative to bring the magic to the north of England.

We are committed to providing the best service for dog owners and giving dogs the best day out, whilst also giving adults with learning difficulties a safe and community-based environment to work in, learn social skills, build confidence, gain independence and find paid jobs in the workforce.” – Laura, Billy’s Bus
