You & Me & Tuscany

Monday 10th April

Romance is firmly on the agenda this month. Halle Bailey stars as Anna, who impulsively travels to Tuscany after meeting an Italian stranger, only to find herself pretending to be his fiancée when confronted by his family. What follows is a charming, sun-soaked love story with a twist, featuring Regé-Jean Page as the man she didn’t expect to fall for.

The directorial debut from James McAvoy, California Schemin’ tells the wild true story of two aspiring Scottish rappers who reinvent themselves as Californian artists to break into the music industry. Undertone | Tyneside Cinema

Monday 10th April

One for horror fans, Undertone is already building cult status. Directed by Ian Tuason, the film follows a paranormal podcast host who becomes haunted by eerie audio recordings sent to her. Leaning heavily into immersive sound design, this psychological horror is as unsettling as it is innovative — and best experienced in the cinema.

In the aftermath of a devastating wildfire, ranch owner Dusty (Josh O’Connor) is forced to start again. The Wizard of the Kremlin

Set in post-Soviet Russia, this political drama follows Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano), an artist-turned-TV producer who becomes an unlikely advisor to a rising political figure – a young Vladimir Putin, played by Jude Law. A gripping look at power, influence, and the shaping of modern Russia.

Originally released in Japan, Exit 8 is a psychological thriller with a cult following. Friday 24th April

Anne Hathaway stars as a global pop icon forced to confront her past when she reunites with her estranged best friend, played by Michaela Coel. Set against the backdrop of a major comeback performance, the film blends music, drama, and emotion, with original songs from Jack Antonoff, Charli XCX, and FKA Twigs.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Tuesday 30th April

The most anticipated animated release of the season, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, sees Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) blast off into space on a brand-new cosmic adventure. Expect new characters, bigger challenges, and a shift far beyond the familiar Mushroom Kingdom in this sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023). With a voice cast including Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, and Brie Larson, this one is made for the big screen, ideally in IMAX.
