At R Place, every visit feels like dropping into your favourite local spot, where strong, beautifully crafted coffee, freshly made donuts and a warm, welcoming atmosphere come together. Proudly woman owned and fiercely independent, R Place has been serving up quality coffee and delicious sweet and savoury treats since 2017, all with laid back vibes that invite you to stay a while or grab your favourites to go.

The draw: What began in 2017 as a donut stall at markets and festivals found its forever home on Nile Street in 2020, and it’s been a North Shields favourite ever since. The coffee is roasted by local partners Tynemouth Coffee Company, and the donuts are handmade using the best local ingredients they can get their hands on. Regulars come back for the coffee flights (four mini coffees to sample your way through the menu) and matcha flights for those who prefer something different, plus seasonal touches like plant swap events and specials that change with the time of year.
