Ernie, Ouseburn

Ernie – Ethical grocery and deli shop in Ouseburn, Newcastle

Ernie is a “feel better shopping” grocery and deli in the heart of Ouseburn, stocking organic veg, natural wines, craft beers, speciality spirits, handmade ceramics and an apothecary of local herbal products. It’s built around a philosophy of choosing suppliers that support artisan makers, organic farmers, fair trade and reduced food miles, and sits alongside fellow independents like Northern Rye and Ouseburn Farm.

The draw: the curated hampers and gift boxes are a real strength, from the Local Hero Hamper to more indulgent options like Negroni Forever, and there’s a zero emissions bike courier delivery service across much of Newcastle’s NE postcodes.

Hours:

Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

Saturday 8am to 6pm

Sunday 10am to 4pm

Vibe check: thoughtful and community minded rather than a big supermarket experience, great for picking up a gift or stocking up on interesting local produce while wandering Ouseburn.
