Dosa Kitchen – South Indian restaurant, bar & grill in Jesmond, Newcastle

A cosy, family-run restaurant bringing genuine South Indian food to Jesmond, from a pop-up concept to a proper destination spot, as featured in the Good Food Guide 2025. The menu leans into authenticity, crisp dosas, soulful sambar, colourful tiffin and Sunday Sapaad feasts, with plenty of naturally vegan and gluten-free options.

The draw: the Sutta Kari South Indian grill, marinated for hours (sometimes overnight) and cooked over open flame for a smokier, earthier take on grilled meat than the more familiar tandoori style, plus homemade cocktails and a solid wine list.

Closed Mondays. Tue–Thu 5–10pm (kitchen till 9pm)

Fri–Sat 5–11pm (kitchen till 9:30pm)

Sun 5–8:30pm (kitchen till 7:30pm)

Lunch: Sat 12–3pm, Sun 12–5pm
