Axis – Craft beer and wine bar in Gateshead

Axis is a bar and bottleshop set in an arch on Wellington Street, opened by Alice and Alex after years running bars, breweries and cafes in Sydney and Wellington, New Zealand. They set out to recreate the relaxed, easy going local bars they loved in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strong focus on approachable craft beer and wine.

The draw: nine taps of constantly rotating craft beer alongside an ever changing list of wines from small winemakers worldwide, plus a genuinely friendly, unpretentious approach with recommendations and tasters on offer for anyone unsure what to try.

Wednesday and Thursday 4pm to 10pm

Friday 2pm to 10pm

Saturday 12pm to 10pm

Sunday 12pm to 9pm.
