The Tyne Bar, Ouseburn

The Tyne Bar – Riverside pub and live music venue in Ouseburn, Newcastle

The Tyne Bar has been a fixture of Newcastle’s independent pub and live music scene since it opened in November 1994. Tucked beneath the bridge in the Ouseburn valley, it’s known equally for its drinks selection and its dedication to free live music, with a purpose built stage hosting local bands and DJ nights throughout the year.

The draw: the famous beer garden beneath the bridge is the big pull, especially with free gigs running regularly. The food menu covers gourmet hot dogs, burgers and sharing plates with veggie and vegan options.

Hours: Food served daily, 12pm to 9pm.

Vibe check: a proper Ouseburn institution, laid back and music focused rather than polished. Great for an afternoon or evening in the beer garden, especially when there’s a free gig on.
