Rigoletto by Opera North – Newcastle
Theatre Royal welcomes Opera North’s bold, award-winning production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto, directed by Femi Elufowoju Jr and lauded with rave reviews since it first opened in 2022.
In a world ruled by an entitled, ruthless elite, Rigoletto leads a double life: within the corrupt court he’s a jester, existing on the margins and despised for his difference, while outside it he’s a loving, fiercely protective father.
Sung in Italian with English subtitles, it’s PG, with flashing lights and adult themes including violence against women, abduction and murder. £20 tickets are available for anyone new to opera, with a 15% saving when booking three or more.
