Oktoberfest – Sunderland
High Street West hosts Sunderland’s own Oktoberfest, as Germany’s biggest beer festival arrives for a weekend of steins, singing, dancing and authentic Bavarian entertainment.
A live five-piece Oompah band performs a mix of classic German favourites and well-known party anthems, with a Bavarian-themed DJ keeping the atmosphere going between performances. Expect a range of authentic Bavarian street food and drink, from traditional German-inspired dishes to refreshing steins of beer, all set against themed décor and festival styling that recreates the sights, sounds and spirit of one of the world’s most famous celebrations.
The weekend runs across multiple sessions, a lively Friday evening, two sessions on Saturday, and a family-friendly session on Sunday, so whether you’re after a big night out or a daytime day out with the kids, there’s a slot to suit.
