Step inside the Early Years setting and you’ll immediately understand why girls love learning here; it’s quite simply stunning.

Expansive grounds and excellently resourced classrooms have all been carefully designed with early years learning in mind. The result is a calm, inspiring and nurturing environment that gives girls from age three the confidence to explore and develop those important early skills.

Classrooms combine structure and routine with opportunities for creativity, curiosity and discovery. You’ll find cosy corners for sharing stories, inviting spaces for imaginative play, opportunities for sensory exploration and direct access to outdoor learning throughout the day.

In the reading den, girls can curl up with a favourite book, while elsewhere they’ll enjoy music, playful maths, phonics and creative activities carefully designed to build confidence and their own love of learning. And learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door.

Through Forest School sessions and experiences in the Woodland Kitchen, girls develop resilience, independence and a connection with the natural world. Whether they’re exploring outdoors, solving problems together or discovering something new, every day brings opportunities for girls to learn through experience.

EVERY GIRL, KNOWN AND UNDERSTOOD

SUPPORTING FAMILIES FROM THE VERY BEGINNING

The welcome at NHSG begins long before your daughter’s first day.

Families applying for a Nursery or Reception place are invited in for a meeting with EYFS Lead, Mrs Gibson, so that a personalised transition plan can be created with sessions tailored to each girl’s individual needs, helping them become familiar with their new environment, teachers and routines before they start.

Ahead of girls joining the school, families are also invited to events throughout the year such as Stay and Play in the Forest and Santa Stay and Play providing opportunities for families to connect with one another and become part of the school community.

Once your daughter joins NHSG, regular conversations with staff, alongside daily updates through the Tapestry app, ensure you’re kept closely connected to her learning, development and achievements

Girls can join Nursery from age three, with up to 30 hours free for eligible parents, or they can start in Reception in the academic year they turn five.
