Wynyard Re:Loved Boutique has become one of the North East’s most talked-about style destinations, and it is not hard to see why.
You’ll find this beautiful, bespoke hidden gem of a boutique behind the iconic pink door at owner Maddie Sidebottom’s Wynyard home. This is sustainable fashion with a personal touch, where every dress, bag and blazer comes with its own story and every client leaves feeling like the best version of themselves.
After nearly two decades styling everything from national TV commercials to red carpet moments and even Robbie Williams wearing Re:Loved, Maddie turned her own overflowing wardrobe into a business built on trust, connection and a proper appointment-only experience.
The result? A community of women who come back again and again, not just for the clothes, but for the confidence.
FROM TV WARDROBES TO A WYNYARD STUDIO
Maddie’s route into fashion started early, dressing friends and rearranging outfits long before it became a career. She went on to spend over 20 years in the industry, working on more than 100 national television commercials as a wardrobe and set stylist for brands including Barclays, Dreams and Greggs.
It was a sustainability event that changed everything, after Maddie spent a day researching fast fashion for a talk and came away disheartened by what she found.
“I’d had loads of my own clothes to sell, and actually, my friends would buy my clothes anyway. I was literally on my own one night with a glass of champagne in my lounge, and I just went on Canva, designed a logo, and posted a message in my local residents’ group asking if anyone would be interested in a sustainable fashion brand.”
Maddie remembers.
Within 18 months, the spare room setup had outgrown the house entirely, and rather than move to the high street, she built a bespoke studio extension using local suppliers, keeping the one-to-one appointment model that clients had come to love.
MORE THAN A SHOP, IT’S A SISTERHOOD
Ask Maddie what the business is really about, and clothes are almost secondary. “It’s not just about selling clothes,” she says.
Now celebrating its fourth year, the boutique was named North East Independent Business of the Year at the FB Fashion Ball Business Hero Awards, a category voted for by the boutique’s own community of clients, reflecting a network that has grown organically into something closer to a support system for women navigating perimenopause, weight changes and big life transitions.
For Maddie, the emotional side of the job runs deeper than any sale.
“So many women, especially in their 40s, are navigating perimenopause, menopause, weight changes, health issues, and it’s quite a safe space to come here. They come away with this confidence, and this sparks joy in buying clothes again.”
She says.
Every item sold on consignment comes from a real owner, and Maddie is candid that she isn’t running a vintage shop or a charity drop-off point. Clients send photographs first, and only pieces with wearability and story make it onto the rails, whether that is a £30 high street dress or a £4,000 designer handbag.

SIZES OFF THE LABEL, CONFIDENCE ON
Maddie’s styling philosophy leans hard into ignoring the number on a label altogether. “Why does it matter what size it is?” she asks, describing how she will often remove size tags entirely so clients can focus on how an outfit makes them feel rather than a number that varies wildly between brands anyway.
It is an approach that has made the boutique a genuinely safe space for neurodivergent clients too. “A lot of people, the thought of going into a shop fills them with dread, so they stay in their safe place of not shopping. They feel like they can come here and there’s no judgement. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you do, where you’re from, you just feel comfortable,” Maddie says, speaking as someone who has ADHD herself.
At Wynyard Re:Loved, there is no judgement, no crowds and no pressure, just an hour carved out to be properly looked after.
FROM ROBBIE WILLIAMS TO ROYAL GARDEN PARTIES
Maddie’s little black book stretches far beyond the North East. Married to former England cricketer and Dancing on Ice star Ryan Sidebottom, her circle runs deep in the industry: she has sold and styled pieces for Steps stars Claire Richards and Faye Tozer and cricketer Ben Stokes’ wife Clare, and gifted a jacket to her friend Robbie Williams during his recent Newcastle visit.
The boutique’s reach has caught national attention too. Maddie has previously dressed a client for King Charles III’s first official garden party at Buckingham Palace, and styled Sunderland fundraiser Emma Petrucci ahead of her visit to 10 Downing Street. Emma later said of the experience: “It was such a special occasion and Maddie completely understood the look I was after.”
Closer to home, North East Ladies Day organisers invited Maddie to showcase her latest stock at their Spring Lunch fundraiser in 2023, while makeup artist and friend Amanda Bell, who has worked backstage at the BAFTAs, regularly joins client sessions at the studio.
In 2024, Maddie headlined and hosted her own fashion show for 400 people, successfully raising £10,000 for Feeding Families, giving back to local families in her community.
Maddie has seen firsthand how attached clients become to the process, even the parting with money.
“I’ve done that for so many clients, and then quite often they’re like, oh, I don’t want the money back, just keep it as credit, and I’ll come back and spend it.”
She laughs.
As Maddie puts it, it is never really about the sale. It is about finding pre-loved pieces new homes, new journeys and new adventures.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR WYNYARD RE:LOVED
Fundraising runs through everything Maddie does. Past events at Hardwick Hall have raised ten thousand pounds for local charity Feeding Families, alongside a Christmas raffle that matched the total. Plans are now underway for a Strictly Re:Loved event featuring Brendan Cole and James Jordan, combining a fashion show with dance routines for a private, dressed-up crowd.
For now, though, the day-to-day remains the heart of it: wardrobe detoxes, late-night doorstep collections and plenty of rails full of clothes waiting for their next chapter.
