Team High Life North’s summer bucket list

Summer’s well and truly here, and the HLN team have been busy plotting exactly how we’re going to make the most of it.

From coastal staycations to sunrise swims, lobster trailers to Lagree classes, we’ve all got our own idea of the perfect North East summer. Here’s what’s on our lists this year, and honestly, we reckon there’s some serious inspiration in here for your own.

Seaham Hall: your serene coastal spa resort to beat the January blues

RACHAEL’S BUCKET LIST

First up, Rachael is dreaming of a proper coastal escape, and she’s set her sights on a stay at Seaham Hall’s Coastal Lodges. Tucked right on the Durham coast, these two-bedroom lodges have your very own hot tub with unbeatable sea views, BBQ and fire pit for evenings spent outside, and if you fancy venturing further than your own terrace, the new Seaham Hall zen spa garden is just a short stroll away, along with the beach and surrounding countryside.

Closer to home, there’s strawberry picking on the cards at Brockbushes, the kind of wholesome summer activity that’s just as lovely as it sounds – strawberry-stained fingers included.

And rounding things off, Rachael’s planning a girls’ day out at Blyth, hiring a beach hut for the day, M&S picky bits and wine. Sun, sea and a proper North East summer’s day with the girls: what more do you need?

LAURA’S BUCKET LIST

Laura’s already ticked one off her list, having bagged a spot at the Tendr pop-up at Laneway. If you haven’t heard of it yet, keep your ears open, because it sounds like exactly the kind of event that sells out fast.

Next on her radar is a trip to Raby Castle in Bloom, where the grounds are transformed with seasonal blooms and displays, plus a chance to check out the brand-new Tutti store launch while she’s there. Two birds, with one stone.

And because no North East bucket list is complete without a food pilgrimage, Laura’s heading up to Bamburgh to get her hands on fresh lobster from the Creel and Reel trailer. There’s something about eating incredible seafood within sight of a castle that just can’t be beaten.

ROSIE’S BUCKET LIST

Rosie’s after an active summer, starting with hiring a bike from Good Times Bike Hire to properly explore Northumberland on two wheels. It’s one of the best ways to see the county at your own pace, and there’s no shortage of stunning routes to choose from.

She’s also planning an early start for a sunrise swim in Embleton Bay, because there’s nothing quite like having a beach entirely to yourself before the rest of the world’s even had breakfast. And to round things off in style, Rosie’s treating herself to a stay at Matfen Hall, because a summer bucket list should always have a little bit of luxury in it too. Think summer afternoon tea, fine-dining and golf.

BETH’S BUCKET LIST

Beth’s chasing a mix of wellness and good food this summer. First on the list is trying Lagree at The 108 Studio when it opens, so watch this space if you’re curious what all the fuss is about.

She’s also got her eye on the new Wylam Brewery venue, Ouseburn Event Space, with plans to sample oysters from the O Co shuck while she’s there. A pint and an oyster in one of Newcastle’s most atmospheric spots? Sign us up.

And finally, Beth’s keeping up her morning routine with another beach Pilates session with Kove Club followed by a sea dip, because there really is no better way to start the day than moving your body by the coast before the crowds arrive.
