With summer on the horizon, Hannah, Founder and Clinical Lead Nurse Prescriber at Self Medical Aesthetics, tells us about the game-changing new device that’s giving clients their most confident skin yet – and why a medically led approach makes all the difference.
WHY SELF MEDICAL AESTHETICS IS THE GO-TO SPOT FOR SUMMER SKIN
There’s a certain kind of confidence that comes with feeling good in your skin, and for many of us, summer is the season that puts it most firmly to the test.
Bare arms, sunny days and evenings out. Whatever your plans, the question is the same: how do you get there feeling your absolute best? At Self Medical Aesthetics, the answer starts with something new.
The clinic, founded and led by Hannah, a Nurse Prescriber with over a decade of medical and aesthetic expertise, has recently introduced the UltraLUX PRO: a multi-treatment platform that’s redefining what’s possible from a single device.
So what’s the buzz all about? Well, it combines IPL skin resurfacing, radio frequency skin tightening, body contouring and laser hair removal in one advanced system. It offers us a versatile route to our goals, without the need for multiple machines, lengthy waiting times or invasive procedures.
“The Ultra Lux Pro allows us to treat multiple skin and body concerns with customised settings tailored to each client,” Hannah explains. “It delivers effective, non-invasive results with minimal downtime, making treatments more convenient, comfortable and efficient.”
It’s the kind of innovation that fits perfectly with the clinic’s ethos. Since opening in 2023, Self Medical Aesthetics has been built on the principle that aesthetics should be led by medicine, not trends – and that every client deserves a treatment plan as individual as they are.
4 TREATMENTS IN 1 ADVANCED SYSTEM – INTRODUCING THE ULTRA LUX PRO
IPL skin resurfacing: brighter, smoother and more even
If you’re looking to transform your skin ahead of summer, IPL skin resurfacing is one of the most effective treatments in the clinic. Using targeted light energy, it works to improve pigmentation, redness, visible red vessels and conditions such as rosacea, while simultaneously stimulating collagen production to enhance overall skin quality.
The result? Brighter, smoother and more even-looking skin with improved tone, texture and radiance that builds beautifully over time.
“It’s also an effective way to prepare the skin prior to injectable treatments,” Hannah notes. “Improving skin health first can enhance overall results when combined in a dual treatment approach, delivering a more refined and long-lasting outcome.”
IPL is perfect if you want to target sun damage, broken capillaries, uneven skin tone or just want a clearer, more luminous complexion. A course of three to six sessions is typically recommended for optimal results, though some clients notice improvements after just one treatment, which makes it a go-to choice if you’re working to a summer glow up.
Radio Frequency skin tightening: firmer, more lifted
If skin laxity or a loss of firmness is your concern, radio frequency (RF) treatment offers a clinically effective, non-invasive solution. By delivering controlled heat energy into the deeper layers of the skin, RF stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin – the proteins responsible for firmness and elasticity. As collagen fibres contract and rebuild, the skin becomes progressively firmer, smoother and more lifted in appearance.
RF is particularly effective on areas where laxity is most noticeable. Key treatment areas include the jawline and lower face for improved definition, the neck and décolletage for crepey skin and fine lines, and the upper arms for tightening and smoothing. It can also be used on the abdomen and knees to improve texture and firmness – making it one of the most versatile treatments on the menu.
“It’s ideal for clients seeking non-invasive skin tightening and rejuvenation,” says Hannah, “particularly those who want to restore a firmer, more lifted appearance without downtime or invasive procedures.” No needles, no recovery time — just quietly impressive results.
Body contouring: sculpted without the surgery
For those with stubborn areas that simply won’t respond to diet and exercise, the Ultra Lux Pro’s body contouring system offers a compelling alternative. Using a combination of non-invasive ultrasonic cavitation and radio frequency energy, it targets areas such as the abdomen, thighs, arms, hips and buttocks.
The ultrasound waves disrupt fat cell membranes, breaking fat down so it can be naturally processed and eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system, while radio frequency works alongside to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness at the same time.
The treatment is comfortable, non-surgical and requires no downtime whatsoever. Initial improvements can often be seen after a single session, with a more noticeable, contoured and smoother appearance developing over a recommended course of around six to 12 treatments, summer-ready results, minus the surgery.
Laser hair removal: smooth, precise and comfortable
Laser hair removal remains one of the most popular treatments at Self Medical Aesthetics, and the Ultra Lux Pro takes it to a new level of precision and comfort. The device features an integrated cooling system to improve comfort throughout treatment and reduce heat-related irritation, alongside multiple handpieces and adjustable settings that allow treatments to be tailored to different skin and hair types.
This means more precise targeting, including finer, lighter and red hair, as well as areas such as peach fuzz that can be more difficult to treat effectively with traditional systems. It’s a significant upgrade and one that makes a real difference to the overall client experience.
THE SELF MEDICAL DIFFERENCE: MEDICINE FIRST, ALWAYS
What sets Self Medical Aesthetics apart isn’t just the technology, it’s the approach. Hannah brings over a decade of experience across both medical and aesthetic practice, a Master’s in Public Health, and a role alongside the NHS delivering Botox for chronic migraine. She has been recognised by Allergan for clinical excellence and mentors practitioners across the UK as a national trainer.
Every client who walks through the door receives a fully personalised treatment plan, developed around their individual goals, concerns and medical history. The clinic combines medical precision with genuine, unhurried care and a commitment to results that look natural, never overdone.
“We always put patients first,” Hannah says. “It’s not about rushing treatments or following fads. It’s about understanding each person and what they truly want to achieve.”
From state-of-the-art treatment rooms to calm consultation spaces, everything at Self Medical has been designed to make clients feel safe, comfortable and confident in the treatment room, and long after they leave.
