Uventi Bathrooms’ stunning Tynemouth bathroom transformation proves small spaces can deliver big luxury

When it comes to bathroom renovations, bigger doesn’t always mean better. And Uventi Bathrooms proves just that.

Some of the most impressive transformations happen in the smallest spaces, where every design decision has to work harder, smarter and more beautifully. That was exactly the case with this beautiful bathroom project by Uventi Bathrooms for a family in Tynemouth earlier this year.

At first glance, the finished result feels like something lifted straight from a boutique hotel. Rich marble-effect tiling, warm bronze finishes, layered lighting and a sleek walk-in wet room make the room feel larger and more luxurious.

But according to Joel Davison, founder of Uventi Bathrooms, the reality before renovation was a very different story. Joel says. “It hadn’t been touched in a very long time, and when we pulled everything out, it was all leaking, which we’ve found happens quite often.”

That’s often the hidden reality behind bathroom renovations. What looks like a cosmetic refresh on the surface can quickly become a full structural overhaul once the old suite is removed.

In this Tynemouth home, the brief wasn’t just to modernise a dated bathroom – it was to completely reimagine the space.

A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH TO DESIGN

Unlike off-the-shelf bathroom installations, this project was deeply personal from the outset. The homeowner had a very clear vision, bringing plenty of ideas and inspiration to the table, while Uventi helped shape those concepts into a practical, design-led bathroom that balanced aesthetics with functionality.

“The homeowner was really particular about what she wanted, which is great because it becomes a collaboration,” Joel explains. “We supplied everything apart from some of the lighting details, but she had quite a lot of ideas and we worked together on the design.”

This project evolved naturally through conversations, product selection and expert guidance rather than generic designs.

The result? A bathroom that feels curated rather than cookie-cutter. It’s a perfect example of how thoughtful design can make even the most compact spaces feel high-end and highly individual.

UVENTI BATHROOMS PROVES THAT SMALL BATHROOMS DESERVE SOME TLC

One of the most impactful design decisions was the walk-in shower. Instead of boxing the space in with heavy framing or a bulky enclosure, Uventi Bathrooms used a fluted glass shower screen that subtly zones the area without blocking light. It creates privacy while keeping the room feeling open and airy – a clever trick in any small bathroom.

Inside the shower, the transformation is particularly dramatic. The feature wall uses statement stone-effect tiles with smoky veining and rich earthy tones, creating a luxurious focal point that feels almost like natural artwork. An integrated bench shelf adds practicality without compromising style, turning what could have been a functional shower corner into a spa-like feature.

The sleek linear drain also helps streamline the look, avoiding visual clutter and contributing to that clean, architectural finish.

CREATING LUXURY THROUGH TEXTURE AND CLEVER LAYERING

What makes this bathroom feel especially elevated is the way texture has been layered throughout the design.

Rather than sticking with one tile or finish, Uventi Bathrooms used three different tile styles to create contrast and depth. The softer neutral large-format wall tiles keep the room calm and spacious, while the dramatic wet room tiles inject personality and movement. Around the vanity, marble-effect surfaces introduce yet another layer of visual interest.

This kind of material mixing can be difficult to get right, but here it works beautifully because the palette remains warm and cohesive.

Then there are the metallic finishes.

The bronze-toned towel radiator immediately catches the eye, moving away from standard chrome fittings and adding warmth to the otherwise neutral space. That same bronze finish is repeated in the basin, brassware and accessories, tying the whole room together with a luxurious boutique-hotel feel.

The floating vanity unit is another smart design move. Finished in a rich walnut-effect wood with elegant brass handles, it adds softness and warmth while keeping floor space visible beneath – one of the easiest ways to make a small bathroom feel bigger.

The wall-hung toilet achieves the same effect, helping the room feel cleaner, less cluttered and more spacious overall.

THE POWER OF LIGHTING IN BATHROOM DESIGN

Lighting plays a defining role in this transformation, elevating the bathroom from simply functional to unmistakably luxurious. While the decorative light fittings were chosen by the client rather than supplied by Uventi, they perfectly complement the overall design and showcase just how thoughtfully the space has been brought together.

Vertical LED lighting frames the vanity area, casting a soft ambient glow that feels far more boutique spa than everyday family bathroom. Paired with statement wall lights flanking the mirror, the layered lighting scheme adds warmth, depth and an unmistakably polished finish.

But this isn’t just about creating atmosphere. In a compact bathroom, clever lighting is essential for practicality too – helping the space feel brighter, larger and easier to use, while eliminating the shadows that can make smaller layouts feel cramped.

Even overhead, no detail was overlooked. Rather than a standard painted ceiling, the room features a limewash finish, introducing subtle texture and softness above. It’s an understated but impactful design choice that reinforces the bespoke feel of the entire transformation.
