Inside this million-pound Whitley Bay seafront home’s bathroom transformation by Uventi

In a million-pound home on the Whitley Bay seafront, every detail matters.

So when Uventi was invited to refurbish a main bathroom in this coastal property, the brief wasn’t about fixing something broken – it was about elevating a space so it truly matched the quality of the home around it.

“The original bathroom was fine,” says Joel Davison, founder of Uventi. “It wasn’t outdated or poorly done. It just didn’t feel designed. And in a house like this, that really shows.”

This project perfectly captures what Uventi does best: thoughtful design, refined materials and a calm, fully managed process that transforms everyday spaces into something exceptional.

UVENTI’S CALM APPROACH TO BATHROOM DESIGN

Uventi isn’t your average bathroom retailer. From its beautiful Backworth showroom to its meticulous in-house project management, the brand has built a reputation for doing things differently.

Instead of overwhelming displays and hard-sell tactics, Uventi focuses on helping clients understand what they genuinely love — and how to translate that into a bathroom that feels right long after the install is finished. Uventi believes that luxury isn’t about cramming things in, but about creating balance, flow and using materials that work harmoniously together.

That philosophy underpins every Uventi project, including this Whitley Bay refurbishment.

A FULL WET ROOM DESIGNED FOR FLOW

The decision was made early on to rework the space completely, creating a full wet room with a seamless, flush floor throughout. Before, there wasn’t a shower tray; now the floor runs continuously through the room, with underfloor heating beneath it, instantly elevating the space and giving it an effortless feel.

A built-in niche was integrated into the shower area, maintaining clean lines while adding practical storage, with the team even mitring the tiles to leave a smooth finish with no trim. Every element was considered not just visually, but in terms of how the room would be used day to day.

MATERIAL PAIRING DONE THE UVENTI WAY

Material selection is where Uventi’s design expertise really comes into its own.

A unique terrazzo-style stone tile forms the base of the scheme, paired with a complementary decorative feature tile to add depth and texture. Rather than fully tiling the room, two walls were finished half-height, with the upper sections painted in a warm terracotta tone — a move that softens the space and adds warmth.

Aged bronze brassware features throughout, tying the scheme together and bringing a richness that feels modern yet timeless.

STATEMENT PIECES THAT SUIT THE SPACE

At the heart of the bathroom sits a substantial white stone bath, weighing around 160 kg. Its scale was carefully chosen to suit the size of the room, ensuring it feels balanced and that every other element falls naturally into place.

Lighting was carefully layered, combining discreet spotlights with pendant lights suspended above the bath to create a relaxed, spa-like atmosphere, particularly in the evenings.

FULLY MANAGED, EVEN WHEN PLANS CHANGE

As with many real-life projects, tastes evolved during installation, including a late-stage tile change once tiling had already begun. Adjustments like this are common, and the team ensures that changes are handled smoothly.

The full refurbishment took three weeks — an impressive turnaround for a fully managed wet room installation with bespoke elements and underfloor heating.

“Our clients don’t need to be on site, we take care of everything.”

Joel adds.

WHY UVENTI CONTINUES TO STAND OUT

From its calming showroom experience to its seamless project delivery across the North East, Uventi creates luxury bathrooms perfect for your lifestyle and taste.

With an expert in-house team, meticulous craftsmanship and a design-led approach, Uventi specialises in bespoke bathrooms that feel as good to live in as they look.

This Whitley Bay transformation is just one example — but it perfectly demonstrates how Uventi turns even ‘perfectly fine’ bathrooms into something exceptional.

“We’d visited a few other bathroom showrooms, but as soon as we visited Uventi and met Joel, we knew they were the right fit. The team had a non-pushy approach, yet were incredibly efficient with follow-ups after our initial visit. We’d happily recommend them to friends and would definitely consider them for any future bathrooms.

We were also impressed by how flexible and attentive the team was. We had chosen some tiles at the showroom, but once they were installed in our bathroom, we realized the color didn’t work in our lighting. Joel’s team were more than happy to take them down and replace them with a better option — a level of service that really made the whole experience effortless.”
