Forget nights in front of the TV — Enchanted City is set to transform Northumbria University’s City Campus after dark, and it’s shaping up to be one of Newcastle’s most spectacular winter experiences.
From Thursday 11th December to Sunday 14th December, this new annual event promises a cosmic adventure for all ages, blending light, art, performance and science into one unforgettable night.
Whether you’re a space enthusiast, an art lover or searching for something unique to brighten up your winter evenings, Enchanted City is your chance to see the city in a whole new light.
A COSMIC PLAYGROUND FOR CURIOUS MINDS
Imagine illuminated astronomers charting imaginary skies, sculptures spinning like satellites, and constellations glowing across the campus. Enchanted City brings the mysteries of the universe to life with interactive installations, light projections and drop-in creative workshops that invite you to explore, play and discover.
From immersive light art to performances that celebrate the wonder of the night sky, this is a family-friendly experience that will leave you starry-eyed. It offers a journey through the galaxy, right here in the heart of Newcastle.
AFTER YOUR ADVENTURE: EAT, DRINK AND BE STARRY
Once you’ve wandered through the installations and marvelled at the magic above, gather beneath the city stars to enjoy delicious food and festive drinks. Whether you fancy something warming and sweet or something a little more indulgent, there’s plenty to keep your spirits high and your hands toasty.
WHEN, WHERE AND HOW TO BOOK
Prices: £12.50 for adults, £7.50 for children aged three and over and free for under twos
Enchanted City takes place at Northumbria University’s City Campus. The event opens from 4.30pm each evening, with tickets available to book 15 minute slots. Last entry is at 8pm, and the site closes at 9.30pm.
There’s also a relaxed session from 4pm to 4.30pm on Friday and Saturday nights, perfect for anyone who would benefit from a quieter experience.
A CELEBRATION OF ART AND IMAGINATION
Enchanted City is powered by the creativity of regional, national and international artists, delivering an experience that celebrates both science and storytelling. It’s delivered by Newcastle City Council in partnership with Northumbria University and supported by NE1, with funding from Newcastle City Council and the North East Combined Authority.
This is the first year of what’s set to become an annual winter tradition — a celebration of light, learning and community that promises to inspire wonder in everyone who visits.
