The Toon is about to welcome one of the most decadent Newcastle hotels yet. Hotel Gotham, housed in a stunningly transformed 1920s fire station on Pilgrim Street, is set to open its doors this month.

With 57 plush bedrooms, striking restaurant and bar, and a secret members’ club, it’s shaping up to be the place everyone will want to be.
FROM FIRE STATION TO FIVE-STAR LUXURY
The iconic Pilgrim Street building has undergone an extraordinary transformation. Retaining its heritage, the interiors cleverly incorporate the fire station’s history – from preserved artefacts to curated memorabilia – while delivering bold, theatrical design that screams opulence.
Expect emperor beds with Egyptian cotton linens, marble monsoon showers, and roll-top baths that make every stay feel like a special occasion.
CLUB BRASS: NEWCASTLE’S SECRET SOCIAL HUB
At the heart of Hotel Gotham lies Club Brass, the hotel’s private members’ club. Hidden behind a discreet door and spread over two floors, it’s designed for Newcastle’s cultural tastemakers.
With velvet booths, signature cocktails and exclusive events, members gain curated access to art openings, secret happenings and experiences that “money simply can’t buy.” Club Brass promises to become the city’s ultimate hideaway for style, connection and fun.
CULINARY EXCELLENCE AT SIREN
The hotel’s new restaurant, SIREN, will serve seasonal, ingredient-led dishes inspired by the region – from North Shields’ seafood to Northumberland pastures. Creating a dining experience where flavour meets emotion, with sustainability at its core – repurposing ingredients to reduce waste and celebrating the North East’s producers.
FIRE: A NEWCASTLE COCKTAIL BAR WITH FLAIR
Complementing SIREN is FIRE, a daring bar set to ignite Newcastle’s nightlife. Led by Bar Manager Zach Rigney, FIRE blends showmanship, creativity and sustainability.
Think playful, bold cocktails like the smoke-filled Cigars After Sex or the layered tribute 69 Pilgrim Street. Every element, from house pours to edible garnishes, is crafted to be sustainable, often repurposing kitchen byproducts.
FIRE also brings an inclusive, high-energy atmosphere, while Zach curates a more intimate experience for Club Brass members, offering refined cocktails in a private setting.
SETTING A NEW STANDARD IN NEWCASTLE
Hotel Gotham Newcastle promises to be a spectacle, balancing theatrical luxury with thoughtful design, exceptional dining, and a social scene to match. From its dramatic bedrooms and heritage-inspired interiors to Club Brass and FIRE, it’s set to become the talk of the Toon.
Phase one opens this month with the fire station, SIREN, FIRE and Club Brass, while phase two in 2026 will unveil the adjoining police station, adding 30 more luxury rooms and a connected event space perfect for weddings, soirées and private celebrations.
