THE STORY THAT SHOOK THE WORLD
For those of you who haven’t yet been swept away by Miss Saigon, here’s the gist. The story begins in the final days of the Vietnam War. 17-year-old Kim is forced to work in a Saigon bar run by the notorious Engineer. There, she meets Chris, an American GI. What follows is a powerful love story caught in the chaos of war, politics and fate.
But this isn’t just any love story – it’s an epic journey of survival, heartbreak and resilience. When Saigon falls, Kim and Chris are torn apart. For three years, Kim struggles to survive, raising their child while Chris – unaware he is a father – tries to move forward with his life. It’s a tale that will grip you from the very first note until the curtain falls.
THE SOUNDTRACK OF A GENERATION
Of course, what makes Miss Saigon so unforgettable is the music. Written by the same team behind Les Misérables, it’s packed with showstoppers that’ll stay with you long after you’ve left the theatre.
Expect to hear classics like The Heat is On in Saigon, The Movie in My Mind, Last Night of the World and the unforgettable The American Dream. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or brand new to the show, the music alone is reason enough to book your seat.
A GLOBAL PHENOMENON, REBORN IN NEWCASTLE
Since it first opened in London’s West End in 1989, Miss Saigon has been performed in theatres across the world, winning awards and hearts along the way. It’s one of those rare musicals that combines blockbuster spectacle with deep emotional storytelling – and this new production promises to be bigger, bolder and more breathtaking than ever before.
For Newcastle, it’s a huge moment. Newcastle Theatre Royal has always been the beating heart of the North East’s theatre scene, and welcoming a show of this scale is proof of its reputation as one of the UK’s finest touring venues. For three weeks only, it’s the chance to see a musical masterpiece on your doorstep.
