If you haven’t been to Flight Heaton yet, it’s time to get acquainted.

Tucked just off Heaton Road, this stylish cocktail bar is fast becoming one of Newcastle’s go-to spots.

Whether you’re meeting friends for laid-back drinks or planning a special date night, Flight fits the mood perfectly – and yes, your dog is welcome too.

Brought to you by the team behind Nest, Hide and Pour Decisions, Flight continues to take over Heaton’s hospitality scene. The bar has a sleek, relaxed vibe that feels just right, with a sun-soaked outdoor terrace and cosy indoor seating featuring those statement peacock chairs.

What really sets Flight apart from other Newcastle cocktail bars is its commitment to local producers and creative, high-quality cocktails. The team’s focus on community and craft makes this more than just another bar – it’s a place where every detail is carefully considered and every visit feels different.

RAISING THE BAR ON OUR LOCAL COCKTAIL SCENE

Flight is more than just a stylish setting. The drinks menu, featuring over 28 cocktails, alongside quality wines and local beers, is what makes this neighbourhood bar special. Open every day, it’s become a hotspot thanks to the team’s dedication to craft and detail.

When you step inside, you’ll be greeted with feel-good vibes. From the mood lighting to being the first bar in Newcastle to serve hand-carved ice that makes every cocktail feel like a work of art, an evening at Flight is one you won’t forget.

Flight doesn’t just follow trends; it creates them. Each bartender was invited to design a new signature cocktail, creating a menu full of personal, inventive drinks you won’t find anywhere else.

Their attention to quality shows in every detail. They use only fresh juices and take ice seriously, using crystal-clear hand-carved blocks from Cool Cats Ice Co. Some ingredients, like Pink Lady apples, are even carbonated behind the bar to boost flavour and reduce waste. They freeze the glassware too, so your cocktail stays perfectly chilled sip after sip.

Supporting local producers is at the heart of Flight, with ingredients like Lindisfarne honey mead and Lakes District cassis sorbet making appearances. Sustainability and creativity go hand in hand here, making every cocktail a thoughtful experience.

ON THE SIGNATURE COCKTAIL MENU

The bar team’s favourite: Shiba Hi-Ball

This vibrant cocktail features freshly juiced Pink Lady apples, green shiso-infused Tito’s vodka and Noilly Prat, all force-carbonated to create a light, fruity fizz. It’s poured over a hand-carved ice spear etched with elemental patterns and finished with a purpose – every sale supports Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter.

Cherry & Cassis Sgroppino

A short, fizzy blend of Lake District cassis sorbet, yuzu sake, cherry blossom rosé wine and prosecco. It’s bold, citrusy and unique.

The Apricot Punch

Brings silky texture and warm notes with apricot eau de vie, Lindisfarne honey mead, apricot liqueur and osmanthus tea, all clarified with soya milk for a smooth, rich finish. This literally tastes like Miller Corner yoghurt.

Nice Pear

A long, refreshing drink made with Avallen Calvados, local Hepple vodka, elderflower liqueur, pear and honey soda—subtle, floral and perfect for late summer evenings.

Feelin’ Chilli

With its blend of blanco tequila, Ancho Reyes Verde, Cointreau, cactus piment, agave and lime, balances sweetness with a gentle kick of heat.

Fresh Clementine Sour

Uses real clementine juice (a rarity in most local bars), combined with orange muscat and Hepple vodka to deliver a zesty, seasonal twist.

Funky Strawberry Mojito

A vibrant, foamy concoction of honey-fermented strawberries, white rum, lime and soda. It’s the kind of drink that feels fun and fresh from start to finish.

MONTHLY SPECIALS KEEP THINGS EXCITING

Every month, Flight invite a local drinks expert to craft a special cocktail menu, keeping the menu fresh and ever-changing. In July, Roy from Room for Fishes created the Tinto de Verano – a light, sharp mix of red wine, homemade tonic and lemonade, perfect for kicking off an evening.

This rotating special menu means Flight always has something new to offer, making each visit a fresh experience.

WHAT’S NEXT AT FLIGHT

They’ve got some exciting plans lined up for the summer, but the details are still under wraps. Keep an eye on their Instagram to stay in the loop with upcoming events and special announcements. And no need to stress about reservations — Flight is walk-ins only, so just drop by for cheeky tipple whenever you fancy.
