Conclave
Conclave follows one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events – selecting a new Pope. Behind the locked doors of the Sistine Chapel, it falls to 118 cardinals to choose the recently deceased Pope’s successor. They are holy men with plenty of ambition and rivalry among their ranks. Set over the course of their deliberations, Thomas Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself investigating secrets and scandals about each of the candidates. Based on the masterful novel of the same name by Robert Harris, this film is full of intrigue and multi-layered mystery. Conclave stars Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and Isabella Rossellini among an amazing cast of talent.
Kraven the Hunter
Could Kraven the Hunter be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s secret weapon? We follow Russian Immigrant Sergei Kravinoff (Aaron Taylor Johnson), who is on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world. Kraven’s complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe) starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the world’s greatest hunter, but also its most feared.
The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim
Ever since Peter Jackson’s epic Lord of The Rings and Hobbit trilogies ended back in 2014, fantasy fans thought we were done with Tolkien’s world of dragons, dwarves, elves and wizards. This is the untold story behind Helm’s Deep, hundreds of years before the fateful war seen in The Two Towers, telling the life and blood-soaked times of its founder, the King of Rohan (Brian Cox). War of The Rohirrim is a spellbinding animation that fans have been waiting for.
Mufasa: The Lion King
Simba, having become King of the pride lands, is determined for his cub Kiara to follow in his footsteps while the origins of his late father Mufasa are explored. Told via flashbacks, the story follows an orphaned cub named Mufasa, who is lost and alone until he meets another lion named Taka, who is the heir to a royal bloodline. This chance meeting sets in motion an extraordinary friendship, however their bonds are soon tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe. Barry Jenkins of Moonlight fame directs this Disney origin story of how Mufasa became The Lion King.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
It’s time to lace up those red trainers for Sonic 3. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite against a, a mysterious villain with powers and abilities unlike anything they’ve faced before. The trio form an unlikely alliance with the villainous Doctor Robotnik (Jim Carey) in hopes of defeating Shadow and protecting the planet.
Better Man
Music biographies such as Back to Black, which looked at the rise of singer Amy Winehouse and A Complete Unknown, starring Timothee Chalamet as a young Bob Dylan (out in January) seem to be a popular genre at the moment. Better Man looks at the rise, fall and resurrection of Robbie Williams, who became one of the UK’s bestselling artists of all time. What makes this biographical film about the British pop singer different from all the others, you ask? Well, Williams is portrayed as a chimpanzee…
Nosferatu
Kick off the New Year in style with a gothic horror. Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire who is infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake. Director Robert Eggers has cemented himself as a master of gothic horror movies. Nosferatu is a remake of the 1922 German film, which was also based on Bram Stoker’s gothic classic 1897 novel Dracula. Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp, Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Nicholas Hoult and Willem Dafoe star.
