Gosforth Civic Theatre

Gosforth Civic Theatre – Arts, events venue & cafe in Gosforth, Newcastle

The only public-facing theatre in the UK founded and guided by people with learning disabilities, and winner of Best Museum or Cultural Venue at the 2025 North East Culture Awards. It runs a genuinely varied programme spanning theatre, gigs, film screenings and family shows, alongside community activities, a young people’s programme, and dedicated sessions for people with learning disabilities.

The draw: a properly inclusive, community-rooted cultural venue rather than a standard theatre, plus GCT Cafe for fresh, seasonal deli food and brunch, and a foyer bar open for events.

Hours: Cafe open Tue-Sun 8:30am-4pm. Show and event times vary, check What’s On for specific dates.

Two minutes’ walk from Regent Centre Metro Station.

Vibe check: alternative, welcoming and genuinely mission-driven, worth supporting as much for what it represents as for the programme itself.
