The Story of Raby and the Railways – Raby Castle

Raby Castle has seen the progression of travel over the centuries, from the waggon ways of the late 1700s to the golden age of steam.

This small exhibition dives into Raby Castle’s archives to discover stories of railway development.

Get to know the surveyors who mapped out the local terrain, imagine glamorous European tours experienced by the dukes and duchesses, and learn how new technology influenced railway mania.

In addition to the displays, there will also be a half-hour talk at 1pm every Wednesday to delve deeper into the collections and research carried out by the team.
