Northumbrian Piping Weekend – Northumberland
Alnwick Castle hosts a weekend-long celebration of the Northumbrian pipes, with performances, have-a-go sessions and dancing throughout.
The programme includes an opening performance from the Duke’s Piper each morning, “have a go” sessions where visitors can try the pipes themselves, and a Young Pipers’ session celebrating the next generation of musicians, building to a full Pipers’ Gathering finale on Sunday afternoon.
Alongside the music, an archival display and Spotlight Talks in the State Rooms and Great Kitchen explore the long-standing connection between the Northumbrian pipes and the Dukes of Northumberland. Saturday also features a traditional Northumbrian and Durham clog dancing session. Entry is included with standard castle admission.
