We’re giving one lucky reader and a guest a night at Saltmoore and a chance to experience Calluna, the Sandsend estate’s new fine dining restaurant.
The prize includes a tasting menu with wine pairing, a room for the night, breakfast and spa access at Saltmoore House, and you’ll have 12 months to use it.
Calluna has just opened on Thursday with just 24 covers a night, so this is your shortcut to a table.
Your evening starts with a welcome drink in the Lounge Bar. Then you’ll move to the Kitchen Counter for the opening snacks, before taking your table for Executive Chef Adam Maddock’s tasting menu, with each course matched by the wine pairing.
The menu draws on the Yorkshire coast and the North York Moors, with dishes like sea bream with toasted nori and pickled cucumber, and Mulgrave Estate venison smoked over bell heather. There are no table turns, so nobody’s hurrying you through it.
“A tasting menu should feel like an evening out, not something you’re being hurried through,” says Adam.
The tasting menu alone is £125 a head.
After dinner, you won’t have far to go. Your room’s in Saltmoore House, the heart of the estate, so there’s no taxi to book and no designated driver to sort.
Breakfast’s included the next morning, so take your time over it.
Before you check out, you’ll have access to The Sanctuary at Saltmoore throughout your stay, the estate’s award-winning adults-only spa. It’s the slow morning a tasting menu deserves. If you’d rather get some sea air, Sandsend beach is just across the road.
Not bad for one night.
