Fancy swapping the daily grind for log fires, deep sofas and countryside views?
We’ve teamed up with The Pheasant Lodge to give one lucky reader the chance to win a two-night autumn getaway for two at this restored Georgian retreat in Field Broughton, near Cartmel in the Lake District.
The Pheasant Lodge sits within the Lake District National Park, just four miles from Lake Windermere, and it’s made for autumn. Original parquet floors and Georgian character give it a real sense of history, while the countryside views over the Cartmel Valley are at their best as the leaves turn golden.
The heart of the house is its log-burning fire. Picture yourself curled up beside it with a glass of wine after a crisp day outdoors, listening to the logs crackle as the evening draws in.
When you fancy venturing out, Cartmel’s just down the road for a wander round the 12th-century priory, a slice of the famous sticky toffee pudding, or a table at Simon Rogan’s three-Michelin-starred L’Enclume.
Come back to The Pheasant Lodge, light the fire, and let autumn do its thing. This is one getaway you’ll want to win.
