Northern Lights Newcastle is back at Leazes Park from 20th November to 31st December 2026, and we’ve got a family ticket worth £73 to give away.
That’s two adults and two children (or one adult and three children) heading round the mile-long Christmas light trail on a date of your choice.
For its fourth year, the trail has been reimagined as A Christmas Time Machine, with 14 brand-new installations inspired by the toys and traditions of Christmases past. Lava lamps, Slinkys, nutcrackers and that catalogue you used to circle with a highlighter? They’re all here, supersized and glowing.
You’ll step in through a radiant tunnel of light before the park’s historic bandstand melts into a sixties daydream at Lava Lamp Lane. A giant rainbow Slinky tumbles overhead, 65 UV-lit mini cubes shimmer in the branches, and a battalion of giant nutcrackers stands to attention at Nutcracker Salute.
Young patients from the Great North Children’s Hospital have filled a giant Christmas catalogue with their own drawings, and it’s easily the most heart-warming stop of the night. The whole route builds to Disco Wonderland, where dancing isn’t just allowed, it’s expected.

Our advice? Don’t eat before you go. The Christmas Village is packed with North East independents, from Davey’s NYC-style smash burgers and BagHead’s spice bags to Acropolis’ Greek street food and Doughvine Desserts’ Spanish churros. Add mulled wine, fire pits for toasting marshmallows and vintage fairground rides, and your whole Christmas night out is sorted.
