Under the direction of Michael Harrison, this brand-new version of the legendary tale is set in the Royal Kingdom of Pantomania, where classic fairytale characters collide in a riot of colour, comedy and chaos. Expect wicked witches, dancing geese and of course, one very spectacular flying carpet.
Think pantomime is just for the kids? Think again. This year’s show is packed with cheeky humour, dazzling production numbers and brilliantly bonkers moments that are definitely aimed at grown-ups as much as little ones. If you’re looking for a night of pure escapism that will leave you in stitches, this is the panto for you.
The cast is bursting with North East favourites and West End talent. Chris Hayward returns in all his glamorous glory as Mother Goose (Aladdin’s fabulously over-the-top mum), while Joe McElderry brings charm and powerhouse vocals to The Spirit of the Ring. Mick Potts steps into the role of The Genie of the Lamp, with Wayne Smith returning as Old King Cole.
Completing the star-studded line-up are West End performers Rachel Stanley as The Wicked Witch and Billie-Kay as Princess Jemima. It’s Aladdin – but with a big, bold and unmistakable Tyneside twist.
