5 cosy hot tub stays in the Tees Valley you’ll love this autumn

A hot tub break works all year round, but it’s made for autumn. What could be better than a crisp country walk followed by a long, warming soak?

If that sounds like your kind of weekend, the Tees Valley and its surrounding countryside have plenty to tempt you.

From quirky cabins near Darlington to lakeside lodges beneath Roseberry Topping, here are five places to add to your hot tub getaway list.

KIP & NOOK

KIP & NOOK

Pinkney Carr Farm, Darlington, DL2 2RD

Tucked away in the countryside just outside Darlington, Kip & Nook is the sort of place where switching off comes naturally. Its hideaways include The Den, an off-grid cabin for two with no WiFi, a wood-fired hot tub, and an outdoor waterfall shower. If the no-WiFi life isn’t for you, try The OG Cabin instead.

For dinner, Alberto’s Farmhouse on site serves relaxed Italian food, while The Workshop does brunch and wood-fired pizza. Darlington town centre is close by too, so you could catch a show at Darlington Hippodrome or dig into local heritage at Hopetown Darlington.

WYKE LODGES

Wyke Lodges, Guisborough, TS14 8JT

Guisborough is made for a hot tub stay. You’ve got outdoor adventures on the doorstep, quaint towns and villages to explore, and the coast a short drive away. Wyke Lodges makes a brilliant base for all of it, with a private hot tub to sink into after a busy day out.

The lodges sleep up to six, are dog-friendly, and have a fully fitted kitchen if you fancy self-catering. If you’d rather let someone else wash the dishes, the Cross Keys pub is a two-minute walk away, or head into town for brunch at Sunday Coffee & Kitchen or a hearty meal at Cookfellas.

WHINSTONE VIEW

WHINSTONE VIEW

Whinstone View, Great Ayton, TS9 6QG

Whinstone View sits on the edge of the North York Moors, giving you the perfect excuse to walk the Cleveland Hills. Its stylish log cabins each have a private hot tub that’s amazing for stargazing on an evening. Some include a kitchen for self-catering, but with the on-site bistro a short stroll from your door, why not indulge a little?

You could easily fill a weekend here with a trek up Roseberry Topping, a potter around Great Ayton village, and a walk through Guisborough Forest. Then it’s back to your cabin, feet up and straight into the hot tub, of course.

TT LODGES

Thewles Lane, Thorpe Thewles, Stockton-on-Tees, TS21 3JB

For an adults-only escape that feels miles from anywhere, TT Lodges is right up your street. Each lodge has been beautifully decorated and has a private, covered hot tub, so you can enjoy a soak whatever the weather. Robes and slippers are supplied too, which feels like a polite invitation to stay put all afternoon.

TT Lodges sits between Stockton and Sedgefield, so you could catch a show at the Globe, wander into Norton for its lovely cafés, or head to Hardwick Park for a walk. Or if you’d rather just hang out in the lodge all day, we don’t blame you.

ROSEBERRY VIEW LODGE RETREAT

ROSEBERRY VIEW LODGE RETREAT

Strawberry Fields, Pannierman Lane, Great Ayton, TS9 6PP

Roseberry View Lodge Retreat offers a lakeside stay with a gorgeous view of Roseberry Topping, so it’s a bit of a showstopper. Each modern lodge has a private hot tub, and there’s a shared glass-fronted sauna with the same view. A children’s play area and a dog play park mean the whole family’s catered for.

You’ll be surrounded by places for a walk, but if the weather’s good, we’d recommend a drive out to Saltburn for a day at the coast. Go rock pooling on the beach, grab lunch at Seaview Restaurant, then ride the cliff lift up into town for some independent shopping before heading back for a dip in the tub.
