The Christmas party venue in Newcastle that’ll wow your guests while giving back
- Advertisement Feature
Looking for a Christmas party venue in Newcastle that does more than pour the fizz? The Cycle Hub sits right where the Ouseburn meets the River Tyne, with Quayside views your guests won’t stop talking about for weeks.
But here’s what most people don’t know. Every party booked here this winter helps keep a free warm space open, gets more women on bikes and supports the whole community.
And for every Christmas party booked this year, The Cycle Hub’s donating £100 to St Oswald’s Hospice.
Now that’s a festive do worth raising a glass to.
A VIEW THAT’LL STEAL THE SHOW
This is a party spot that feels miles away from the crammed city centre bars, yet it’s only a short stroll along the river. Picture the Quayside skyline glowing across the water, the Tyne’s famous bridges lit up in the distance and a warm, buzzing room that’s all yours for the night.
By day, it’s a laid-back café known for great coffee and cakes. By night, it’s a blank canvas just waiting for your festive touch.
YOUR PARTY, YOUR WAY
Christmas parties can often feel rushed, especially when you’re squeezed in next to another group and watching the clock for the next sitting. At The Cycle Hub, you get exclusive use of the venue, so it’s your space, your party and your pace.
Planning a big work Christmas party in Newcastle? Bring in a pop-up marquee and make room for the whole office. Fancy something more intimate with family and friends? Deck the place out in fairy lights and festive decorations and settle in for the night.
FORGET THE SET FESTIVE MENU
Rather than locking you into a set Christmas menu, The Cycle Hub lets you bring in your favourite caterer or street food vendor at no extra cost. Loaded turkey sandwiches? A Yorkshire pudding wrap station? It’s completely your call.
The fully stocked bar’s got you covered too, with locally sourced beers, spirits and wines. Want steaming mulled wine on arrival or your very own personalised Christmas cocktail? The team can make it happen.
HLN TOP TIP: Not sure which caterer to book? Jill, co-founder of The Cycle Hub is always happy to share her favourite local food vendors. Drop her a line at [email protected].
A CHRISTMAS PARTY THAT GIVES BACK
Here’s the bit that’ll give you that warm, fuzzy feeling. The Cycle Hub isn’t a charity; it’s a business with a big social purpose, so the money you spend there goes back into the community rather than into shareholders’ pockets.
“When you book your Christmas party, you’re helping to keep the show on the road over the winter, because winter is our quiet time,” says Jill, co-founder of The Cycle Hub. “So those Christmas parties make a huge difference to our ability to deliver all those other things.”
This year, The Cycle Hub got behind St Oswald’s Hospice’s Tales on the Tyne campaign, and it’s carrying that support into the festive season. For every Christmas party booked, it’ll make a cash donation of £100 to the hospice.
GETTING MORE PEOPLE ON TWO WHEELS
The Cycle Hub is a proud champion of women’s cycling. With support from Cycling UK, it delivers cycling for women who wouldn’t otherwise have access to a bike, boosting their health and wellbeing and building real connections along the way.
Working with Better Days, the team also has a range of accessible bikes, so people with physical disabilities can get out and enjoy a ride too. Cycling here really is for everyone.
A SAFE SPACE FOR EVERYONE
You don’t need to own a bike to feel at home here. The Cycle Hub is an inclusive, welcoming space that supports the LGBTQ+ community, with Queers of the North meeting the first Saturday every month for Queer Coffee Club. Military veterans head out on group rides and come back to the Hub to unwind in a space that feels safe.
It’s a proud part of the community at the mouth of the Ouseburn too, supporting the Ouseburn Trust and the neighbours who make this corner of the city so special.
A WARM WELCOME ALL WINTER
When the temperature drops, The Cycle Hub opens a free warm space every afternoon from 2pm. There’s no need to buy anything. Just come in, get cosy and watch the world go by.
There’s also a pay it forward board, where customers can buy a coffee for someone who’s struggling. Anyone who needs it can take one off the board and enjoy a hot drink in the warm.
Your Christmas party, and every round at the bar, helps keep the staff employed, the lights on and the warm space open right through the coldest months.
