Bishopwearmouth Co-operative is a unique Community Interest Company in Sunderland which has a garden centre as well as landscaping and floristry services. The coffee shop and courtyard are lovely, the food is well regarded, and the plant and hanging basket selection is excellent. The staff are known for going the extra mile, including making up bespoke baskets to order. A welcoming, community-minded independent worth seeking out.
Thoburn’s Plants, Trees and Shrubs

Don’t let the no-frills setting put you off – Thoburn’s is a proper plantsperson’s destination with an excellent and well-priced selection of plants, shrubs and seasonal displays. The hanging baskets in particular have a near-cult following locally. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and the kind of fresh, quality stock that keeps people coming back year after year.
Poplar Tree Garden Centre and Coffee Shop

Tucked into a pretty spot in Shincliffe, Poplar Tree is as much a cafe destination as it is a garden centre, and the food genuinely delivers.
