Tucked away on Vallum Farm near Hadrian’s Wall, Vallum Padel is a beautifully designed indoor padel venue with premium courts, on-site coffee, and lakeside walks on the doorstep. Here’s everything you need to know.
If you haven’t tried padel yet, consider this your sign. The sport that has taken Europe by storm is now firmly on the North East’s radar, and Vallum Padel is leading the charge with a venue that is every bit as stylish as the sport is addictive.
Set within a beautifully repurposed agricultural building at Vallum Farm, just off the Military Road near Hadrian’s Wall, Vallum Padel is an exclusive two-court indoor venue that feels worlds away from your average sports hall. Think sleek glass-walled courts, soaring ceilings flooded with natural light, a dedicated seating area, showers, and a vending machine stocked with racket hire, balls and refreshments. There’s even an on-site coffeehouse at Vallum Farm for your post-match flat white.
What is padel, and why is everyone obsessed?
Padel is a racquet sport played in doubles on a smaller, enclosed court with glass walls that are very much part of the game. It’s incredibly easy to pick up, hugely sociable, and gives you a brilliant workout without feeling like a slog. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned player, padel is accessible to all ages and ability levels, and once you start, you won’t want to stop.
Meet the founders
Vallum Padel is the brainchild of Poppy and Chris, sports lovers who fell for padel’s unique mix of competitive play and easy-going sociability. The pair saw an opportunity to bring the sport to the Northumberland by transforming one of their unused farm buildings into something truly special. Their vision reaches beyond the courts. They plan to continue developing Vallum Farm into a welcoming community space for like minded locals, with a strong sense of community at the core of everything they do.
What to expect when you visit
Booking a court at Vallum Padel is simple. Download the free Padel Mates app, search for Vallum Padel, and book your court in seconds. You’ll receive a door code on booking for easy access, so there’s no reception desk or faff. Racket rental is available via a vending machine on site, along with balls and refreshments, so you can turn up with nothing more than your trainers and a competitive streak.
After your game, make the most of the shower facilities before heading to Vallum Farm’s coffeehouse for a well-earned coffee and cake. And if you fancy stretching it into a proper afternoon, the surrounding lakeside walks are gorgeous.
Coaching, tournaments and community
Whether you’re brand new to padel or looking to sharpen your game, Vallum Padel has you covered. Group coaching sessions are available for all abilities, from complete beginners through to advanced players.
