Darlington Restaurant Week is back from Friday 20th to Friday 27th February, offering up a range of fantastic discounts for foodies to enjoy.
From Mexican and Chinese food, to tapas and pizza, there’s an incredible array of places taking part with cuisines from all around the world. No matter if you want to eat at one of your local favourites or try out somewhere new, it’s the perfect opportunity to dine out for less while supporting the Darlington food scene.
We’ve picked out six spots that we’d love to try to give you a little bit of inspiration.
Saltfish
Houndgate Townhouse, 11 Houndgate, Darlington, DL1 5RF
The deal: Two courses for £20 or three courses for £25
Available: All week (excluding Sunday 22nd) from 12-2:30pm and 5-7pm
Based in the beautiful Houndgate Townhouse boutique hotel, Saltfish is a hotspot for fresh and high quality seafood. It also doubles up as a wine bar, so be sure to ask about the best pairing for your meal and make a real occasion of it. This is a fantastic option for a romantic date night.
Taipan Asia

Available: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 4-9pm, Friday from 4-6pm, and Saturday from 1-6pm
At Taipan Asia, variety truly is the spice of life with Pan Asian dishes that span the continent. No matter if you’re in the mood for Japanese, Thai, Korean or Chinese cuisine, they have got something for you. The food combined with the elegant decor and intimate atmosphere makes for an incredible dining experience.
Walworth Castle

Did you know that there’s a 12th century castle surrounded by countryside in Darlington? What used to be a place for kings to rest their heads is now a stunning restaurant and hotel where you can dine on a selection of hearty dishes. You’ll be treated like royalty, but make sure you visit on an empty stomach because the portions are very generous.
Babul’s

The deal: Small plate, big plate and side for £20
Available: During restaurant opening hours
Babul’s are the recent winners of North East Asian Restaurant of the Year, so if you’re looking for the best Indian and Bangladeshi food, look no further. They have a modern offering that combines street food with classic dishes and curries, and when you pair that with their extensive cocktail menu, you’ve got a recipe for an amazing evening.
Cherry Tree
8 Blackwellgate, Darlington, DL1 5HL
The deal: Five tapas for £20 or two courses for £16.90
Available: Both Fridays until 6pm and Sunday to Thursday all day
Cherry Tree is one the newest tapas spots in town and it’s made waves with its cool, laidback vibe, creative cocktail menu and delicious small plates. Think moody lighting, cosy corners to tuck away into, and food designed to share. It’s another one that should be at the top of your list for date night.
Casa Del Alma
29 Skinnergate, Darlington, DL3 7NR
The deal: Two courses for £15 or three courses for £20
Available: During restaurant opening hours
Casa Del Alma is one of the only Mexican restaurants in the Tees Valley and they do it so well. Owned by chef Matei Baran from Masterchef the Professionals, the food quality is second to none, with handmade soft tacos, crisp quesadillas and the cheesiest enchiladas. It’s a fun choice that’s ideal if you fancy something a bit different for dinner.
