Somebody Else’s Guy x High Life North: Newcastle’s first-ever sustainable catwalk is coming

Here at High Life North, we’re so excited to finally share something we’ve been quietly working on behind the scenes.

This August, we’re teaming up with fashion designer Somebody Else’s Guy to host Newcastle’s first-ever sustainable catwalk – and honestly, it feels like a moment a long time coming.

On Friday 7th August 2026, inside High Bridge Works, we’ll be bringing together some of the North East’s most exciting creatives, familiar local faces and media friends for a night that celebrates fashion, sustainability and Northern talent in the way it deserves. Finally, Newcastle will be put on the fashion map.

As our founder, Laura Kingston, puts it: “Somebody Else’s Guy is putting Newcastle firmly on the fashion map, and we knew we had to be part of this moment. Supporting local creativity has always been at the heart of High Life North, and this catwalk feels like the perfect way to showcase the luxury, talent and ambition that exists right here in the region.”

Corey Dixon

The catwalk itself is invite-only and will run for around an hour, showcasing the latest collection from Corey Dixon, founder of Somebody Else’s Guy. Expect bold, one-of-a-kind designs crafted from upcycled fabrics, inspired by local culture and made to be worn with confidence. Corey has always designed with individuality and empowerment at the heart of her work – and bringing that vision to life on a runway in her home city is something she never imagined when she first started.

“I’m incredibly excited – and honestly, a little nervous,” Corey says. “Putting on a full catwalk still feels surreal. I started this brand during lockdown as a creative distraction, and to see it grow into this moment is really special. I create clothes to help people feel confident and powerful in who they are, and doing that on a runway in Newcastle means everything to me.”

After the show, we’ll be keeping the energy going downstairs with drinks, networking and a VIP after-party – because no great night out in Newcastle ends early. Guests will also receive curated goodie bags spotlighting brilliant local brands, something that’s at the heart of our magazine, championing the creativity and businesses right here in the North East.

This catwalk also marks a huge milestone for Somebody Else’s Guy, celebrating five years of a brand that has gone from a lockdown idea to dressing artists including Sam Fender and Anne-Marie, appearing in Vogue and Vanity Fair, and collaborating with major names — all while staying rooted in sustainability and Northern identity.

For us, this is all about visibility, pride and backing the talent that’s been here all along.

As Laura says, “We exist to celebrate the very best of the North East and make sure it gets the recognition it deserves. This catwalk isn’t just a fashion moment — it’s a cultural one.”

We’re also opening the doors to the public with an exclusive giveaway, giving away two of you the chance to attend and be part of this landmark night. So stay tuned…

This August, we’re putting Newcastle exactly where it belongs – front row.
