We’ve discovered FIKA Gallery – all-day brunch, workshops and local art

If you haven’t been to FIKA Gallery in Morpeth yet, honestly, you’re missing out.
It’s one of those places you wander into once and think, I’ll definitely be back.
With an art gallery, cosy café and creative workshops and events all under one roof — it’s the kind of spot every town wishes it had.
Here’s everything you need to know.
ART THAT FEELS FRESH, LOCAL AND AFFORABLE
First things first: the art. And before you think “art gallery… intimidating”, trust us – this one isn’t. FIKA Gallery is bright, relaxed and full of work from more than 30 brilliant local artists from the North East. There’s everything from big statement pieces to little prints you can pick up on a whim.
Prices start around £50, so it’s definitely not the kind of gallery where you feel like you need to whisper or pretend you understand what “expressionist abstraction” means. You can just stroll around, point to what you like and if you want to chat about it, the team are very friendly and happy to help. And if you get carried away and choose something massive, they’ll sort delivery too. Easy.
A COSY CAFÉ WITH AN ALL-DAY BRUNCH MENU
At the heart of the FIKA Gallery is the café. It’s stylish without trying too hard, the coffee is smooth and Italian (roasted in the foothills of the Dolomites), and the cakes are baked in-house every morning.
It’s the kind of place you pop in “just for a coffee” and suddenly an hour’s gone by. They do all-day brunch, baked goods, lunches, afternoon teas, good wine, cheeky cocktails… all the important things. And it’s dog-friendly, too.
There’s plenty of seating, so even on a busy day you can usually find your own cosy corner. And yes, you can grab drinks and bites to go when you’re flying about town.
WORKSHOPS TO LET YOUR CREATIVITY RUN WILD
Our favourite part? FIKA Studio. It’s their creative workshop space that’s fun. The kind where you forget about your phone for two hours because you’re too busy painting, drawing, sculpting or getting messy in the best possible way.
They’ve got classes for all ages and abilities – just chilled out and friendly sessions led by tutors who will put you at ease. Everything’s hands-on and really relaxed.
You can book the workshops online (they fill quickly), or you can just chat to the team when you’re in. And if you ever fancy a creative party or a team day that isn’t awkward and corporate, you can hire the studio too.
EVENINGS THAT FEEL LIKE A TREAT
FIKA Gallery really comes alive in the evenings — think paint-and-sip nights, jazz sessions, seasonal craft evenings, all that good stuff. Basically, it’s wholesome entertainment with a glass of wine in hand. You’ll walk out feeling like you’ve actually done something with your night rather than just scrolling Netflix.
WHAT’S ON AT FIKA GALLERY
A PROPER MORPETH GEM
What I love most about FIKA is that it doesn’t feel like a “concept” or a chain — it feels like a place built by people who genuinely care about art, good food, and community. It’s creative, warm, stylish and totally unpretentious.
You’ll walk in as a stranger and leave feeling like you’re part of something. And honestly? That’s what makes it special.
