Name a better combo this Christmas than tacos and top-tier beer…we’ll wait. Two by Two Brewery and Taproom has got our festive feels covered this year.
Tucked away in Byker, Two by Two has become one of Newcastle’s most versatile, vibrant and all-welcome hangouts. It’s the sort of place you plan to “just pop into for one”, and suddenly it’s four hours later and you’re deep in a darts rivalry with strangers.
The space is effortlessly social. The staff chat like your old mates, a pool table, darts, stacks of board games, a full DJ setup and their bright mural wall that feels like instant sunshine.
Outside? Cosy firepits. Inside? Even cosier. Dogs? Of course. Their monthly dog socials with our friends at Jess Fox & Hound are iconic.

Behind the bar, the magic happens literally metres away. Two by Two’s beers are brewed onsite and widely considered among the best in the region — bold, punchy, vibrant and bursting with character.
Seasonal sips include mulled cider, hot spiced cherry beer and the long-awaited return of Grasshopper Pale — a hemp-bright CBD pale created with Karma Coast that might just be the most relaxing pint you’ll have all winter.

And now… the food. Two by Two has recently teamed up with local legends Flankman, and honestly, it’s a match made in taco heaven.
Think: charred flank steak with fresh lime and chipotle. Golden halloumi with pomegranate. Slow-cooked carnitas that melt at sight. Hot honey chicken with crunch for days. And the carne asada loaded fries.
Best bit? At selected times, selected tacos and pints are just £3 each.
A DECEMBER CALENDAR OF FESTIVE FUN
Two by Two’s festive schedule is basically the city’s new December roadmap. Charity events, vinyl nights, live music, cosy winter drinks — it’s all happening.
