Freya Clinic is changing the way women experience healthcare.

This is not just another wellness clinic, it’s a movement for women like us ready to reclaim our health, balance our hormones and finally get to the root of what our bodies are trying to say.

Founded by Angela Ferguson, a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist and High Life North’s new expert in residence, Freya Clinic was born from her own deeply personal health struggles.

What began as one woman’s healing journey has evolved into a sanctuary helping us at every stage of womanhood, from puberty to menopause, to feel empowered, informed and restored.

HER BODY, SEEN, HEARD AND UNDERSTOOD

This Newcastle women’s health and fertility nutrition practice’s guiding mantra (Her Body. Seen, Heard and Understood) is more than a tagline; it’s a promise. Angela says, “So many women come to me feeling dismissed. They’ve been told their symptoms are ‘normal’ yet they don’t feel themselves and rarely get the answers they’re seeking from their GP- I wanted to change that narrative.”

Appointments at Freya Clinic aren’t rushed. Through detailed consultations and advanced functional testing, Angela looks at the whole woman and the whole story – a health timeline reveals where symptoms arose and their possible triggers. This combination of functional care, compassion and science is what makes Freya Clinic unique.

THE FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE APPROACH

Freya Clinic is a holistic practice, connecting the dots between gut health, hormones, stress and nutrition to uncover the root causes of imbalance. Unlike conventional healthcare systems that work on symptom suppression,  Freya Clinic uncovers the root cause of health disorders by utilising nutrition and lifestyle as medicine — just as our ancestors once did.

Angela says, “the body is remarkably resilient; much like a flower — with the right nourishment and conditions to bloom, it instinctively restores balance and thrives. Our genes don’t define us; it’s how we nourish our bodies that determines how we feel.”

SUPPORT FOR EVERY STAGE OF WOMANHOOD

Freya Clinic provides bespoke programmes for every phase of female life. During puberty, the focus might be on easing menstrual transitions and managing common skin concerns like acne.

Later, it may shift to fertility optimisation, hormone balancing or supporting women through reproductive disorders (PCOS and endometriosis), and major life transitions like perimenopause/menopause.

Angela emphasises, “women have such complex bodies and to truly understand her needs a comprehensive approach is necessary”.

WHEN SCIENCE MEETS COMPASSION

At Freya Clinic functional testing provides the science, but Angela’s empathy and expertise creates lasting change. “We look at the data, but we also listen to the story behind them. Healing happens when science and compassion meet.”

This approach helps women overcome digestive issues, hormonal imbalance, fertility challenges and burnout – issues that often overlap. “Many women come to me feeling exhausted and frustrated, despite trying diets, supplements and stress management strategies”. Angela explains that gut dysbiosis, impaired detox pathways and inflammation are often at the root cause. “Once we understand the ‘why,’ healing becomes achievable.”

MEET OUR NEW EXPERT IN RESIDENCE

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist, Angela Ferguson’s story is one many of us will recognise. From her teens, she battled excruciating periods, chronic fatigue and persistent digestive issues- that were dismissed as IBS, leaving her feeling exhausted and defeated. Countless GP visits, hospitalisation and “normal” test results offered no answers.  Angela recalls. “I was told my pain was in my head but I knew it wasn’t.”

Frustrated but determined, Angela discovered functional medicine—an approach that treats the body as an interconnected system rather than a list of symptoms. Through restoring gut function and improving liver detox, she began to heal. Her experience inspired her to study at The College of Naturopathic Medicine and eventually led to the launch of Freya Clinic. “Freya became what I needed back then—a space where women could get real answers and compassionate support,” Angela says.

WOMEN’S STORIES

“As a new mum struggling with low energy and bloating, my consultation with Angela was a game-changer. She really listened, understood my goals, and made me feel seen. I’m excited to start the programme to restore my gut and hormone balance.”

— Catherine, Tynemouth

“Chronic IBS had affected my mental health and social life. Stool testing revealed I had SIBO, and a 12-week gut program with Angela helped restore my digestion. Now, I can enjoy my favourite foods without fear. I’m so grateful for her support.”

– Sarah, Durham

“Working with Angela has been life-changing! As a menopausal woman struggling with weight gain, night sweats, and brain fog, her compassionate, expert guidance made all the difference. Her tailored plan improved my energy and clarity within weeks. I finally feel on track.”

— Sue, Tynemouth

LOOKING AHEAD: WELLNESS RETREATS AND GLOBAL HEALING

Freya Clinic is expanding beyond online consultations into wellness retreats that combine functional medicine, nutrition, and restorative therapies in serene natural settings. Following a successful retreat in Spain, plans are underway for international detox and longevity programs – immersive experiences designed to nurture body, mind and spirit.

RECLAIM YOUR HEALTH

Angela’s advice to women who feel unseen? “Trust your intuition. If you feel something’s not right, it isn’t in your head. You deserve to be heard, understood, and healed.” At Freya Clinic, your body isn’t a mystery—it’s a story waiting to be understood.
