Meet the Angel of the North: The North East’s spiritual healer you’ll want to book
From seeing spirits in her cot as a baby to helping people across the world transform their physical and emotional health, Lorraine – known by many as “The Angel of the North” – has never lived an ordinary life.
But for decades, she kept her true abilities hidden. Why? Because even though she could see angels, feel illness in others’ bodies and sense what wasn’t being said out loud, the world wasn’t ready to hear it.
Now, after 30 years of healing others (and surviving her own near-death experience), she’s stepping into the spotlight to share what she’s learned – including what your body might be trying to tell you, how grief hides in the gut, and why she believes trauma is the root of so much modern-day illness.
Her unique approach blends energy work with medical intuition and a deeply grounded, no-BS attitude. Think less mystical mumbo jumbo, more compassionate straight talker with an ability to help you feel seen.
The girl who could see angels
Lorraine’s gifts began early. As a baby, she would point to things no one else could see. By the age of four, she was having vivid visions and hearing voices of spirit guides. But in the ‘70s and ‘80s where this wasn’t understood, she quickly learned to keep quiet.
She trained in medicine, later working as a cardiology theatre nurse, but she never stopped seeing energy. “I could see inside the human body,” she explains. “I’d know something was wrong before a scan showed anything.”
Clients now describe her as having “X-ray eyes,” thanks to her ability to spot inflammation, blocked energy, and hidden trauma. Her sessions often involve pinpointing a physical issue – gut problems, pain, autoimmune conditions – then gently uncovering the emotional root beneath. And the results, they say, are transformational.
A trauma-informed healer with soul
At the heart of Lorraine’s work is compassion. She’s fiercely protective of those in pain – especially those who feel like they’ve tried everything. Her healing work weaves together medical understanding, spiritual guidance, and deep emotional support.
“So many people carry unprocessed grief. They’ve never really let themselves cry, scream, mourn, heal. Instead, it ends up as IBS, migraines, autoimmune disorders. The body will always tell the truth.”
she says..
She doesn’t promise quick fixes. But through conversation, reiki energy work, and remote healing sessions (yes, even via Zoom), she helps people reconnect with themselves in ways they never thought possible.
Healing from afar
One of the most fascinating aspects of Lorraine’s work is her ability to do distant reiki healing. Even without being in the same room as her clients, she can tune into their energy, describe their symptoms with astonishing accuracy, and guide them through healing work.
“Energy knows no bounds,” she explains. “Whether you’re in Newcastle or New York, I can still feel what’s going on. It’s not magic – it’s energy medicine.”
“I often get DMs on Instagram and can instantly start to get messages from people who have left their life – people are shocked when we start to chat, they can’t believe what I can pick up even just through Instagram messages.”
“Scepticism is healthy and common, but that’s why I encourage people to just connect with me and find out for themselves. I know that I can help people, and it’s all I want to do.”
What’s to come
Over the coming months, Lorraine will be sharing her insight with HLN readers, from decoding physical symptoms and explaining how trauma can hide in the body, to how remote energy healing actually works.
She’ll also be answering anonymous reader questions in a new Q&A series, sharing practical spiritual tools to support you through grief, burnout, self-doubt and more.
