The best new pizza spot in Sandsend: Saltmoore opens The Beach House pizzeria

If your perfect evening includes pizza, a sea breeze and a glass of something cold in hand, you’ll want to make your way to Saltmoore’s newest opening: the Pizzeria at The Beach House.
Tucked within the serene Saltmoore estate in Sandsend, just a stone’s throw from the beach, this brand-new pizzeria brings a fresh, casual energy to the coastal retreat’s growing food offering.
It officially opened on 12th July – and is already proving popular with locals, day-trippers and Saltmoore guests.
Open seven days a week during high season, the pizzeria is all about beautifully made sourdough pizzas, seasonal toppings, and a warm, unpretentious atmosphere that welcomes families, dogs and sandy feet.
A taste of simplicity, done well
Led by Head Chef Adam Maddock, with Michelin-starred chef consultant Tommy Banks behind the scenes, the kitchen at The Beach House is rooted in simplicity and refinement.
They’re not trying to reinvent pizza, but instead lessening the pace. The slow-fermented sourdough bases are made with regeneratively farmed flour from Wildfarmed that makes them light, digestible, and full of character – all topped with thoughtfully sourced, seasonal ingredients that speak for themselves.
“The pizzeria is all about simplicity done well. We’ve focused on flavour, texture and quality ingredients. No shortcuts – just proper, satisfying pizza that brings people together.”
says Adam.
A menu that changes with the seasons
While you’ll always find a line-up of crowd-pleasing favourites, the seasonal specials are where the creativity shines. Think Wensleydale with wild garlic and asparagus in spring, heritage tomatoes and grilled courgette in summer, and smoked meats with festive flavours as winter draws in. The toppings may change, but the ethos remains the same: fresh, local, and considered.
Refined meets relaxed
In true Saltmoore style, the pizzeria doesn’t compromise on craft – but it also doesn’t take itself too seriously. “We wanted to create something sociable and welcoming,” says General Manager Brian van Oosten. “A space where families, friends, and couples can gather and eat really well without needing to dress up or book weeks ahead.”
The interiors are laid-back and coastal-cool, with indoor and outdoor seating perfect for every kind of weather. Walk-ins are welcome, dogs are greeted with a bowl of water, and the whole experience feels easy-going and generous – without losing that unmistakable Saltmoore touch.
Pizza, to stay or to go
Whether you’re looking for a relaxed family meal after the beach, grabbing a drink at the bar while the sun sets, or picking up pizzas to enjoy on the beach, Pizzeria at The Beach House is open to both Saltmoore residents and non-guests. Walk-ins and reservations are both welcome.
