Deep North – Independent coffee and doughnut scratch bakery across the North East

Deep North is an independent coffee and doughnut shop and scratch bakery, making everything in house, dough, jams, fillings and glazes, using local, seasonal and fresh ingredients. All doughnuts are served the same day they’re made.

There are four permanent shops: Tynemouth, Ouseburn, Sunderland Sheepfolds and Yarm, plus regular pop-ups at events and markets, and pre-ordering for collection is available at any site.

The draw: genuinely made-from-scratch doughnuts rather than mass produced, with a rotating menu worth checking ahead of a visit, plus their Fuelled By Doughnuts Run Club offer combining coffee and a doughnut for early risers.

Vibe check: a proper treat stop rather than an everyday coffee run, worth timing a visit for when doughnuts are freshest given they don’t hold stock over to the next day.
