Summer Bird Walk: Migrating Birds – Newcastle

St Mary’s Island Nature Reserve hosts a guided walk with local birder Matthew Harrison, spotting some of the many birds passing through on migration.

Likely species include spotted flycatcher, pied flycatcher, sandwich tern, gannet, Mediterranean gull, skuas and eider. Bring optics if you have them, along with suitable clothing for the coast. It’s an informal walk suitable for beginners and enthusiasts alike, with a suggested donation of £5 per person, ensuring cost is never a barrier to taking part.
